Solar energy is growing in adoption but probably not for the reason that most people think. Some people think the solar industry is pitching their product for profits, some think it's just a political grab for the "left", and some think it's a flat-out scam. The fact is that solar is in a sense a Swiss army knife in that it solves several real problems.
By now most people realize that energy costs are on the rise and this trend will without a doubt continue. Historically rates have doubled every fifteen years but with major changed to the automotive industry, there will be a major shift in the electricity market. This Video will help you understand why. Most solar options for the home not only reduce energy costs from day one, but they either eliminate or minimize future energy rate increases.
Where do we get the energy that we use today? Well, we burn coal, fossil fuels, and dig for oil. All of which are not sustainable over time. The Sun sends enough energy on the daily to power the planet 10,000 times over so why not use the source of energy that is available every single day?
By using the Sun for energy, we ensure that our energy futures our sustainable.
Gridlock is probably the greatest challenge that rooftop solar offers a solution too. Across the country we only have three power grids. We've seen what happens when one grid has a partial failure as we saw in Texas in 2021. This catastrophic event is crippling when it happens, and the odds of more failures increases as we put more stress on the power grids.
So, how does rooftop solar help this? When the energy goes from the Sun to your roof, and then directly into your home; the grid has less traffic than when it goes from power plant to power grid, to home.
This one might bother some people, but the reality is our climate is warming and carbon emissions are the reason why. Using the sun for energy instead of burning coal and fossil fuels is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint. For the doubters of climate change, just look at the rise in temperatures since the industrial revolution. The temperatures have increased factually. You can try and argue it's not because of carbon emissions, but the temperatures are no doubt on the rise.
Economic impact is an unintended benefit of going solar. Let's dive in a bit. When you go solar there are people involved in this process who receive a financial gain while you save money. Your Sales Rep earns a commission or salary. Your installation crew earns an hourly wage. The city inspector for your project gets paid for inspection. Even your utility provider profits off of Net Energy Metering while they increase their renewable energy portfolio. Not to mention, you have more money in your bank account now. You can either invest it, save it, or put it back into the economy. When you decide to pay more to your utility company, none of this financial distribution takes place.
