Finding a solar installer can be a challenge.  How do you know who's reputable?  Consider this, solar installation companies are going of business at a high rate.  The second largest installer in the country, Titan Solar Power, went out of business.  Another behemoth in the industry, Sunpower, also fell.  Then there is what looks like an infinite list of smaller i residential solar installers who are no longer around.  So, who can you trust in Las Vegas or Phoenix to provide a quality solar experience?

Solar Dealers are strictly sales organizations who hire sales staff to generate leads, close sales, and find an installation company to install the solar panels.  These sales organizations were the lifeline to companies like Titan Solar.  Titan didn't hire their own sales team so that they could cut sales and marketing costs.  They would contract with Solar Dealers/Sales Organizations, and it would be the Dealers job to find and close business.  This dynamic creates a disconnect between what's being sold to the homeowners and what's actually being done operationally with the residential solar install.  Solar Dealers just wanted to get the system installed so they could collect a commission check and pay the sales team, and once installed and paid their commissions, they could care less about customer service and experience.  This business model is precisely why Titan Solar Power failed.  

What you want is for your installer to be on the same page with your sales representative.  In an ideal scenario, your solar installation company will actually employ your solar sales representative.  In an ideal situation, your installation company won't need to pay a sales director, a sales team leader, a sales closer, and a lead setter.  When there are that many hands in the commission log, your solar installation is much more expensive.
